Fairhaven, Massachusetts

Childs Engineering Corporation was contracted to design repairs to an existing wharf that the Authority purchased with the intention of using it as a maintenance facility for their fleet of ferry boats. The wharf was an earth filled stone seawall structure. The project included an initial site investigation and condition survey. This included both underwater and topside inspections.

Childs Engineering Corporation was tasked by Waterson Terminal Services to perform a stability analysis of an existing granite block seawall for ProvPort in Providence, RI.  The analysis included calculating factors of safety against sliding due to uniform live loads and crane surcharge loads acting on the seawall.

Childs Engineering Corporation was tasked by the U.S. Navy to inspect and design repairs to Bridge 896 at the Marine Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. This project was based on a previous inspection performed by Childs which identified several structural deficiencies.
