Jonesport Dredge Services

jonesport dredge services

Under a delivery order from the U.S. Coast Guard Civil Engineering Unit – Providence, Childs Engineering provided pre-dredge hydrographic surveys of the boat basin at Station Jonesport, Maine, in both 2011 and again in 2019. Following the survey work, Childs developed a comprehensive dredging program that included volume calculations, quality control documentation, and detailed cost estimates to support project funding.

Inspection, Analysis and Mooring Hardware Testing

inspection analysis and mooring hardware testing

Childs Engineering was contracted by the U.S. Navy to perform comprehensive waterfront inspections at 89 Naval facilities in Japan, and to evaluate the mooring hardware capacity at 13 fueling berths in Yokosuka and Sasebo. Using OPTIMOOR software, the team analyzed mooring layouts for commonly berthed vessels and assessed hardware for structural adequacy, including shear, overturning, sliding, and bearing capacities. Where needed, 3D models were developed to visualize potential modifications.

Childs Engineering was contracted by the U.S. Coast Guard CEU Miami to perform detailed inspections of Major Aids to Navigation (ATON) in both offshore and inland locations. Our team of engineers conducted comprehensive assessments of structural conditions above and below the waterline, including dive inspections and topside climbs. The inspections included evaluations of steel integrity, coating thickness, and safety features such as ladders and fall protection, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards. Each structure was documented with detailed condition reports and compliance certification summaries.

Underwater Bridge Inspection
