About Childs Engineering
Since our founding in 1970 by Kenny Childs we have been committed to providing engineering services in the field of waterfront and coastal structures. This commitment has created a firm that has extensive expertise and experience in structural engineering along the waterfront.
Childs Engineering has been at the forefront of underwater inspection and design by putting engineers underwater to perform high quality inspections since the beginning. As Kenny Childs stated in the December 1976 publication of New England Construction:
‘Underwater inspection of structures should be made by licensed professional engineers. Divers untrained in structural analysis can give erroneous assessments of underwater conditions. That’s why I and my associates make our own underwater inspections.’
Today, under the leadership of Charlie M. Roberts, P.E, D.PE, Childs continues to provide specialized experience in the investigation, analysis, design of repairs, and design of new marine structures, and provide many other services including hydrographic surveys, topographic surveys, permitting, planning, berthing studies, dry dock engineering, construction inspection, and resident engineering.
Our mission is to provide the highest level of expertise in waterfront engineering to our clients insuring that efficient construction, overall economy, and the use of current technical advances will bring projects in on time, under budget, and to the complete satisfaction of our clients.
