Childs Engineering has the in-house staff and equipment to inspect and analyze structures above water, in the tidal zone, and underwater. Our experienced engineering staff uses destructive and non-destructive techniques to assess structural deficiencies, and develop repair strategies.

At Childs Engineering, along with underwater and topside inspections our engineers are also experienced in the design of repairs and design of new structures. The same engineers that perform the infield inspections carry that knowledge through to the design phase of every project thereby maintaining continuity and knowledge throughout to the completion of each project.

Since the founding of the company in 1970, Childs Engineering has been fielding qualified engineer/divers throughout the USA and Worldwide. Our in-house staff of Professional Engineers are trained commercial divers and members of the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI).

Childs Engineering has expert knowledge in the regulations that surround any work in, on, or around the water. We regularly work with many local towns, state environmental protection and management agencies, as well as Corps of Engineers (USACE) throughout New England and understand what is needed to get your project permitted and ready for final design and construction.

Childs Engineering provides dredge design services to clients thoughout  New England and worldwide. We have the engineering skills to be able to determine if your facility is able to be dredged to the desired depth or to provide you with design options that will allow you to dredge to the required depth.

Dry dock engineering requires special knowledge of ships and experience on the waterfront.  Since our founding by Kenny Childs, whose career prior to starting Childs Engineering was based on dry dock engineering, our firm has carried that tradition on by working on marine railways, vertical lift, floating dry docks and graving docks throughout the world.
