Waterfront Structural Engineer

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform the responsible structural analysis and design of a project working as part of a design team under the guidance of a Project Manager.
  • Projects will involve the inspection of waterfront structures followed by a structural analysis and recommended load rating of the structure, then the design of new elements or the repair or replacement of the existing structural elements.
  • Perform complex engineering analysis utilizing computer software and hand calculations.
  • Prepare structural plans and details.
  • Prepare engineering reports based on inspectional information and/or analysis.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • 3-6 years of structural engineering experience with a focus on or desire to learn marine structures.
  • PE registration or ability to obtain within 18 months.
  • Strong technical skills related to structural analysis and design of marine structures.
  • Experienced with structural analysis software.
  • Familiarity with standard engineering design codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, including overnight, as required.
  • Valid driver’s license

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. degree in Structural Engineering (or a focus in it).
  • Experience in geotechnical design and analysis of marine structures.
  • Diving experience or familiarity with the underwater environment.
  • US Citizen.
